Creative Writing Seminar
19-23.08.2016

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies... The man who never reads lives only one."

George R.R. Martin, The Dance of the Dragons

On August 23, 2016, the first Creative Writing seminar in the next country in Vitsa, Zagori, was successfully completed. Twenty participants, under the guidance of the author Michalis Speggou, spent four days learning their pen. ‘They wrote, read, listened and evaluated each other’s work, in a relaxed, friendly and creative atmosphere. They were introduced to the art of writing, they practiced diligently in writing with the help of the tireless teacher Michalis Spegos. Twenty participants who eventually became friends, members of an active community.

Early in the morning, before the start of the seminar, a refreshing walk in the natural beauties of the area (Vitsa staircase and Missiou Bridge, Profitis Ilias, Monodendri - Agia Paraskevi and Oxia) gave the necessary inspiration and liveliness for the lesson of the day.

On the third day, the team hiked from Zavrouchos to Ano Pedina, during which Michalis Speggos gave the next day's exercise.

Giannis Pliokas of Dioptra publications came to the next country and talked about the book market and publications in Greece, and willingly answered questions.

The strongest moment of the seminar was undoubtedly when we were stuck listening to the deadly story of gate 7 from its surviving protagonist, Fani Tziova, a friend from Ano Pedina. The book will be released soon.

On Tuesday, August 23, the team broke up by exchanging promises of communication and ideas to organize the sequel in 2017. Everyone got their homework: the text they need to write to be included in the collective edition with the care of the next country .

Have a nice summer with creative continuity!
